Federation Premier: Olympic 1, Marist 2. Another sorry day at Newtown Park. Olympic started very strongly and played attractive attacking football for the first 15 minutes. Jared got tackled in the box and Steve McMahon duly slotted the penalty. The rest of the half was a dour affair with both sides only creating half chances. PK saved Olympic twice in the space of a few minutes with two great goaline saves. 2nd half started evenly with Marist coming more into the game, however Olympic created two clear chances which were not finished off. Another chance: Jared got into the action and went into the box, cut across but 2 Olympic players failed to bury it. As the game progressed Marist forced plenty of corners and from one of these aflick on and header at the back post cought Olympic napping, 1-1. Late in the game and both sides looking for the winning goal.....it was Marist's lucky day as a long ball went right over the Olympic defence and the lone Marist striker smacked it past the hapless PK, 2-1 and game over. A poor result for Olympic but with 4 games to go they still have their destiny in their hands! All we need as a miserable ounce of luck.
