Olympic v Miramar Rangers
Fed Premier: Olympic 2, Miramar 0 A game that was more of a midfield battle than lots of action. 1st half both sides jostled each other for dominance with Olympic controling most of the ball and field position at this time but only creating a couple of chances. Miramar had the best chance just before half time with Zannoto hitting just wide with only the keeper to beat. 2nd half continued with similair fasion but Olympic began to work themselves into a better tactical position of soaking up the pressure and waiting for the break. The camels back was finally broken with Rooker getting cut down in the penalty area and the Miramar defender getting sent off. Rooker obliged by burying the penalty clinically. The rest of the game was Miramar struggling to mount attacks and Olympic snapping up possesion. It was only a matter of time before 10 man Miramar finally tossed up another goal which Russell Kamo gratefully took to make it 2 zip. Olympic showed plenty of spirit in this game having to wetaher a storm form Miramar and backing up from the Wests game 2 days previously. They now have the same points after 4 games than they did for the whole of last year. There is good progress being made by the team as bigger challenges await them. During the match Olympic keeper Dave Finlay was on the receiving end of an unlucky tackle that broke his jaw. He was whisked away by ambulance and is now recovering in Hutt hospital. Olympic wishes Dave a speedy recovery.
