Olympic go down in Semi's.

Todays Semi-Final clash with Wellington United ended in heartbreak for the Boys in blue. Both team's looked egar to reach the Finals as the first 10 minutes saw possesion go both ways although, it was United who put their names on the scoresheet first. After a corner was well sent into the keepers side netting, helped in by a diving Shaun O'Neill. Olympic gained a bit of shape after the goal, replying with a couple chances, but no real threat to United solid backline. It was hard for Olympic to get started, in a game, which was never really theirs. Even though Olymic enjoyed some time on the ball it was United who went into the break 1-0 up. The second half was no better as Olympic struggled to find their shape, and United taking full advatage of this caught Olympic out at the back, and after a disasterous spell of play from the boys, Olympic edged their Newtown Park rivals a step closer to the Final by netting an Own Goal. United looked like the victors in this match ever since kickoff, as Olymic never really sent much threat into their box and back line. One moment of hope came when Mickey Milovic Misheadered a ball straight into the keepers hands. This seemed to sum up Olympics day, and to make matters even worse, Olympic were cuaght out once again on the break, and United put there foot in the door, tapping in another goal to seal the victory and a well earned spot in the Final. At the end of the day Olympic's chances went begging as they never really had their foot on the pedal, and their lacklustered performance gave the club and their fans something to think about on the ride home, and can accept being beaten by a better United side. Although Olympic lost the game, the boys held their heads high in defeat and can now look to improve on their preformance, by getting stuck in and showing us some more gritty determination and goals that saw them reach this years SemiFinals. We can now look foward to the new season kicking off on the 5th of April (more to follow) against Western Suburbs away from home.

Olympic would like to thank all the supporters, players and Club members and associates for making this years Hilton Petone Cup a fun, exciting and enjoyable time. And as the saying goes...Theres always next year! __________ To report a fault or misquote from Todays clash please send all questions and quieries to Thank You.
