  • Olympic had an unbelievable run of 11 away matches in a row until we played Cashmere Technical in the quarter finals at Wakefield Park last season. The last time we played a regional match at Wakefield Park before the match against Wainuiomata was in the 0-5 third round loss to Wairarapa United on 23rd June 2018 when Hamish Watson was playing (and scoring) for the opposition.

PREVIOUS GAMES AGAINST

PETONE FC....

This will be our 15th Chatham Cup meeting with Petone in our 54th Cup season.  Olympic has not played any other Club more than seven times (Napier, Miramar, Wanganui and Tawa).

- As CYFC, the Club won 2-0 in 1971 (goals from Jeff Allen and Andrew Yiavasis) but lost 1-2 in 1978 (which side included Nick Halikias, Harry Kotsapas and George Bertos Snr)

- As Wellington Olympic, the Club has won 12  straight (41 goals to only 13 against) with the biggest margin being 5-0 in 2005 including a Graham Little hattrick.  The closest margin was a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win in 1984 to break a 4-4 draw

- No individual player has been able to score more than a total of three goals over the 14 Cup challenges against Petone.  The only ones to do so were:

     - Graham Little (scored a hattrick) in his one          and only match against Petone in a Cup;

     - Spiros Androutsos

     - Jimmy Haidakis

added to that, there have been three own goals scored.

- All matches have been in the earlier rounds with the exception of the two teams meeting in the 1994 semi-final in which Olympic were victorious with a 5-1 and went on to its first Chatham Cup Final:

Goalscorers:     - Simon Elliot x 2

                           - Chris Christie

                           - Stu Jacots

                           - own goal

- Olympic last met Petone in a Chatham Cup game in the first round of 2018 which also finished 5-1 and included one of those own goals:

Goalscorers:     - Christian Baz

                            - Gianni Bouzoukis

                            - Seth Ward

                            - Ignacio Junca

                            - own goal
