Olympic Capture Star Striker

Wellington Olympic AFC is pleased to announce the signing of Exodus Team Wellington striker Luis Fonseca Corrales for the 2015 campaign.

Corrales is a hard-working, versatile and exciting striker that will provide Olympic that extra x-factor in the attacking third of the park.

Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, Luis started his career at Asociación Deportiva Ramonense. He went on and had spells at Club Deportivo San Francisco and Club de Futbol Universidad de Costa Rica. During this early period of his career, he represented the Costa Rican National team at Under 18 level.

In 2005, Corrales made the move to Wellington and has become a familiar face to Wellington and New Zealand Football. He has previously played for Stopout Sports Club, Lower Hutt City, Central United, Auckland City FC, Upper Hutt City and Exodus Team Wellington. Luis has come up against the blue of Wellington Olympic AFC on numerous occasions since his arrival.

Corrales began his New Zealand National League career in 2007 at Exodus Team Wellington, where he was the ASB Premiership Golden Boot in the season of 2008-2009. He then moved to Auckland City FC achieving success up there, featuring twice in the FIFA Club World Cup, both in Japan in 2011 and 2012. He also was crowned Oceania Club Champion with Auckland City FC in 2011 and 2012.

Luis returned to Exodus Team Wellington at the start of 2013, but missed the entire 2013-14 ASB Premiership campaign after surgery on his ankle. He has spent the last two winter seasons playing for Upper Hutt City in the Lotto Men’s Central League which has helped him return to full fitness. This has led to recent success, as he played a major role in Exodus Team Wellington’s 2014 ASB Charity Cup victory, with the club winning the ASB Charity Cup for the first time in its history.

Everyone at Wellington Olympic AFC is very excited and happy that we were able to sign a player in Luis Fonseca Corrales. Well done to newly appointed Central League coach Besim Balicevac in capturing the service of the Costa Rican.

We wish Luis all the best for the 2015 season at Wellington Olympic AFC.

Special thanks, to PhotoMac NZ for the snaps.
